You can get past the gas gap after the NPC swings across the ice, by doing that you can get down to the ruins area from the first level. I took some screenshos to show you what I mean. Raising the hazard level and making it stretch further to the left should solve the problem.
Speed up the scoreboard raising speed. You should also consider setting it to be raised even if the player is not nearby as long as they have passed that point at least once. Put a weak gyroscope on the barrel(evator), this thing kept turning sideways as it reached the pick up point in the water. You could lower the water level by a tiny bit as well, i'd imagine that would help the barrel problem, the water hazard at the end would be more effective on top of that.
This is a destructive beauty... Such gorgeous use of lighting across intricate architectures. You managed to make the lava "feel" real, i'm not sure if that makes sense but there's something so earthly about it. There is clearly some history to this world and you've told it through a visual medium, it's so exciting.
